I love my AirPods Pro, and from day one the left one fit perfectly and never fell out. But no matter what I tried, the right AirPod Pro kept falling out of my ear, even after trying the various sized ear tips. I didn’t want to return them because the AirPods Pro were still my favorite wireless headphones.
So I went on a mission to stop my AirPods Pro from falling out.
DIY AirPods Pro Foam Tips
Here’s a list of everything I used to make my own AirPods Pro replacement tips:
- Apple AirPods Pro (obviously – we’ll be using the included ear tips)
- RIYO Premium Memory Foam Earphone Earbuds Tips
- A boxcutter or exacto knife
- Tweezer (not necessary but might make things a little easier)
Step 1
Get yourself some foam ear tips. If you have a pair lying around and don’t mind cutting them, then give them a try.
If you’re not sure which foam ear tips will work with your Apple Airpods Pro, I ordered the RIYO Premium Memory Foam Earphone Earbuds from amazon and they worked for me.
Since the small Apple silicon ear tips fit best for me, I ordered 12 of the small RIYO tips.
Step 2
You’ll be cutting a bit of the bottom of the ear tip to use with your Apple silicon ear tips.
I didn’t measure an exact amount, but this image shows what worked for me.
Step 3
Flip your silicon ear tips up so you can bunch up the tip and pull it through the foam tip you just cut.
This is where the tweezers might help.
Once you are done it will look like this.
Step 4
Now just flip the silicon flap back over and your ear tip should look like the image here.
Notice that the vent shown here is not covered by the foam you just added.
After doing the above, the right AirPod stopped falling out of my ear and the seal is amazing. I tested it by going on a run and wearing it around the house while running errands. Zero issue! So that’s how to DIY your own AirPods Pro foam ear tips and solve any fit issues you may have.
